LOVE SAN CLEMENTE WEEK (July 12-16, 2017)
What would happen if the entire community came together to help one another—City government, businesses, residents, the faith community, service groups, schools and non-profit organizations? San Clemente is adding its name to the growing list of cities who are part of the Love Our Cities movement. Bring your family and challenge your friends and neighbors – find out how you can make a real difference in our community during Love San Clemente week July 12-16!
Love San Clemente is a grass roots coalition of local churches and San Clemente community volunteers that unite to show God’s love to San Clemente in practical ways through community service projects.
Each year Love San Clemente targets five areas to “love bomb.” They target Senior Citizens, Needy Families, Schools, The Military and San Clemente Community Projects. This year’s event will include beautification projects at Las Palmas Elementary School and Serra Preschool, Beach Clean Up projects, Gardening projects at Presidio Senior Apartments, Maintenance projects with Gilchrest House, Family Assistance Ministries food collection and distribution, Kids Around the World Meal packing project for Haiti and Family Outreach Programs at Max Berg Park. To register for one or more of the 2017 Love San Clemente projects visit www.lovesanclemente.com.
Dates for Love San Clemente are July 12 – 16. Love San Clemente will begin with a kick off BBQ at 6:00 pm, July 12, 2017 at Vista Hermosa Sports Park where volunteers will meet this year’s project leaders, enjoy a free BBQ dinner and will receive a FREE
Now in it’s sixth year, Love San Clemente gathers around 200 volunteers from a number of local churches and community groups. The San Clemente churches with participating volunteers include Heritage Christian Fellowship, Cornerstone Community Church, San Clemente Presbyterian, Southcoast Church International, The Shoreline Church and Calvary Chapel San Clemente. Participants will be wearing a Love San Clemente t-shirt with a logo designed by Madison Davis, the women’s fashion designer for Stance Socks. Visit lovesanclemente.com for more information.
Love San Clemente is my favorite week of the year. It’s when I get to see churches and community groups pull together to Love Bomb our city with God’s love in practical ways. It’s awesome to see how many people in our city really Love San Clemente.
Pastor Holland Davis, Calvary Chapel San Clemente
“One of the great privileges of the Church is to care for it’s community and not just it’s own people. We want this community to know that we love our city and the Church is bigger than our four walls.”
Chris Smith, Southcoast Church International
It is easy in this busy life to feel disconnected from the community. We want to be a part of doing good things for others but there is just not enough time to get involved in long term projects. Love San Clemente is the opportunity to be a part of something worthwhile without a long term commitment. You can choose a one day project of substance that really makes a difference in the life of our this city we love.
Dr. Patricia Drown, Human Affairs Committee
“Love San Clemente” is one of our church’s favorite times of the year. We love this city, we are for this city, and we consider living here as one of God’s greatest gifts. We truly love San Clemente and consider it a privilege to be able to serve God by serving the people of this wonderful place.
George Hulse, The Shoreline Church
Jesus said that all of God’s Commandments could be summed up in two, “Love God” and “Be A Good Neighbor”. Love San Clemente is one practical way we can all Love God by Being a Good Neighbor.
Ron Sukut, Cornerstone Community Church
A church member, who served last year said, “Our small group volunteered to help put on a Vacation Bible School for the children of Marines at Camp Pendleton. It was so much fun to serve as a family and to join with other churches. We can’t wait for next year!”
Sheryl France-Moran, San Clemente Presbyterian
“It was so nice to see Love San Clemente with several churches come together and work for the community good. Las Palmas Elementary School is near and dear to so many people in this town and is a highly used site for the community. It is truly a community gathering spot. So to see the community come together to help clean, build, garden and prepare the school for the fall… it was a beautiful sight to see!”
Kristen Nelson, Principal, Las Palmas Elementary School
