Local San Clemente Churches launched a week long service oriented project today called LOVE SAN CLEMENTE.  In the words of Pastor Holland Davis from Worship Life Calvary Chapel in San Clemente… “Love San Clemente is San Clemente churches showing God’s love in practical ways.”  The week long project began with a food drive where local San Clemente residents will be given an empty grocery bag supplied by the local Trader Joes, Ralphs and Stater Brothers.  Residents are encouraged to fill their bags with non-perishable items that will be picked up July 14 in the morning.

Other service projects include cleaning the Home Economics Classroom at Shorecliffs Middle School, refurbishing city owned buildings at the old Skeet Range and volunteering at Family Assistance Ministries.  The San Clemente churches with participating volunteers include Cornerstone Community Church, San Clemente Presbyterian, Southcoast Church International and Worship Life Calvary Chapel of San Clemente.  Participants will be wearing a Love San Clemente t-shirt with a logo designed by Madison Davis, a free-lance designer who works with Billabong and has had designs featured in the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition.

“This is our first year and we wanted to do something that would impact our city.  A lot of churches do things, but no one ever hears about it.  We want to do something that will make a difference and cause people to ask, why are you guys doing this?”

Pastor Holland Davis, Worship Life Calvary Chapel of San Clemente

“One of the great privileges of the Church is to care for it’s community and not just it’s own people.  We want this community to know that we love our city and the Church is bigger than our four walls.”

Chris Smith, Southcoast Church International

“We feel so privileged and blessed to live in such a beautiful city with such beautiful people and that gratitude compels us to want to do things that would further enhance the beauty of our city and inspire and encourage our neighbors.”

Ron Sukut, Cornerstone Community Church
